Kurdish belongs to the Indo-European language family, more specifically to the Iranian subgroup. It is one of the official languages in Iraq and is primarily used in the Kurdistan and Rojava regions. It is also spoken by minority groups in Armenia, Turkey, and Iran. Kurdish is written using the Latin script (Hawar alphabet) and the Perso-Arabic script (Sorani alphabet). It is estimated that there are more than 25 million Kurdish speakers worldwide.
